WNRN is proud to give our non-profit neighbors a venue to promote their causes and events. Hear Together Announcements are written in their words and recorded in their voice.
The rules:
- Organizations profiled by WNRN or organizations whose information is broadcast within Hear Together must be a registered 501c3 non-profit.
- WNRN requires at least a month’s advance notice to create a Hear Together Announcement for any event.
- If there is an admission or cost for the event, 100% of the proceeds must benefit the nonprofit.
- Hear Together is a non-partisan, non-biased feature and will not accept submissions from or conduct profiles of political organizations or activities representing or contributing to a specific political organization or political action committee.
- Hear Together is non-denominational and will not accept submissions from or conduct profiles of specific religious groups or fundraisers tied to specific religious groups or organizations. We will accept submissions that are inter-faith or multi-denominational that support the community at large in collaboration without promoting a specific religious group or activity related to funding a specific religion or religious group.
Creating a Hear Together Announcement is an easy process. To request a time to record your message, email dmoses@wnrn.org.
During scheduling, you’ll be prompted to write a message outlining what you’d like to promote, which we’ll use as your script for recording. We look forward to working with you!
Hear Together: BRIMS Concert – Breabach
The Blue Ridge Irish Music School (BRIMS) in Charlottesville is presenting Scottish band Breabach in concert on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7 p.m. at Potter’s Craft Cider. Breabach’s contemporary take on traditional Scottish music and songs features bagpipes, fiddle guitar, and stepdance.
Securely ranked among Scotland’s most skilled and imaginative contemporary folk acts, Breabach unites deep roots in Highland and Island tradition with the innovative Scottish music scene.
Community Connection: Virginia Ukapalooza Festival
Virginia Ukapalooza—a central Virginia non-profit—is hosting the second annual Virginia Ukapalooza Festival on Friday and Saturday November 1 and 2. They’re inviting all ukulele enthusiasts to Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville for a two day event of educational workshops, with featured artists like Danielle Ate The Sandwich, Ray Cygrymus, and Caroline Scruggs. Our event also features open mic times, Virginia community group performances, and group jams.

Hear Together: Central and Western Virginia Alzheimer’s Association Walk – Charlottesville
The Central and Western Virginia chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit in Charlottesville.
With new treatment breakthroughs, there’s never been a more important time to join Walk to End Alzheimer’s® the world’s largest event to fight the disease. They invite you to walk with them on Sunday, October 27th at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Hear Together: University of Virginia Department of Urology Bill Steers Memorial 5K
The University of Virginia Department of Urology is a nonprofit in Charlottesville that serves the community by treating urological cancers and benign conditions like kidney stones.
They invite you to bring your entire family to the Bill Steers Memorial 5K at the Foxfield Race Track on Saturday, November 9th. You can run or walk the grassy course with your family. There will be food trucks, community health vendors, touch-a-truck, and a kids’ race.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will support transformative urological research for benign conditions.
Hear Together: Crozet Fall Arts and Crafts Festival
The Crozet Arts and Crafts Festivals invite you to bring your whole family out to Crozet Park on Saturday, Oct 12th and Sunday, October 13th, for the 44th Annual Crozet Fall Arts and Crafts Festival.
There will be more than 120 artists and crafters, food trucks, a kids area, live music all weekend including Zuzu’s Hot 5 and the Sweet Potatoes, and more.
Hear Together: Anne Spencer House Pierce Street Renaissance Historic District Festival
The Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum in Lynchburg is a nonprofit that preserves and celebrates, through education and research, the literary, cultural, and social legacy of Anne Spencer.
They engage in a broad range of innovative and traditional educational enterprises that use the Spencer properties, collections, and archives to illustrate and document Anne Spencer’s philosophy, vision, and literary accomplishments.
The Anne Spencer House is hosting the annual Pierce Street Renaissance Historic District Festival on Saturday, September 28th from noon-6PM.
This family-friendly event will feature a poetry contest, soul food, live entertainment, games and the grand opening of the Spencer Visitor and Education Center and Pop’s Chicken House Stage.
Hear Together: Roanoke GO Outside Festival
The Roanoke Outside Foundation is a nonprofit in Virginia’s Blue Ridge with a mission to build a better outdoor community through business attraction, strategic partnerships, social offerings, infrastructure investment, and signature outdoor events.
Along with their partners at PLAY Roanoke, they are hosting the Anthem GO Outside Festival this fall—an annual invitation for anyone and everyone to get together and get outside.
Running from October 18th-20th, this 3-day festival is all about getting active with hands-on outdoor activities, pro athlete shows, gear demonstrations, adventure films, more than 100 exhibitors, live music and more.

Community Connection: Forward Foundation Forward Fest
Forward Foundation VA is a nonprofit in Richmond that is dedicated to assisting single working parents and their children who are struggling financially.
They’re hosting the 5th annual GO FORWARD TOGETHER Ride and Forward Fest on Saturday, October 5th at Final Gravity Brewing in Lakeside. Participants can choose between a 30-mile or 50-mile ride, beginning at 8:30AM and ending with an after-party.
Hear Together: Skyline Literacy Golfing for Literacy
Skyline Literacy in Harrisonburg offers English, US citizenship preparation, digital literacy, and basic literacy classes to adult learners in our community. They’re hosting their 7th Annual Golfing for Literacy event on Friday, September 27th, at Heritage Oaks Golf Club in Harrisonburg. Skyline Literacy welcomes you to join them for a day of golf and community spirit, all in support of adult literacy programs in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Lunch will be provided before the event.
