Refund The Defund

Keep WNRN Strong

The rescission of federal funding for public media left a $200,000 gap in our yearly budget. Now, we need your help to keep independent music and community storytelling alive.

What Happened

When Congress revoked federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) in July 2025, WNRN lost $200,000 in annual support overnight. This funding helped cover music licensing, community storytelling, and the independent programming you count on.

The Challenge Ahead

The loss of CPB funding is not a one‑time crisis—it creates a permanent gap in our annual budget. Because we’re listener‑supported and non‑commercial, the only way to make up for this loss is through the generosity of our community. Your gift keeps music discovery alive, brings artists into our studios, and ensures WNRN stays independent.

How You Can Help

Becoming an Evergreen Member is the most effective way to sustain WNRN. A monthly gift to the station:

  • Powers music discovery and keeps independent voices on the air
  • Brings Commonwealth and national artists into our studios for live sessions
  • Fuels community storytelling through our Hear Together program
  • Sustains WNRN through the ups and downs of every year
