Mutiny After Midnight is the latest record from Sturgill Simpson, released under the moniker Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds. Simpson took a unique approach to the album roll-out earlier this year, initially leaking it via YouTube before its official physical-only release two weeks later. He then made the album available on streaming platforms on his birthday.
In a letter to fans, Simpson said the album is a “protest against oppression and suppression, and the only tried and tested true antidote to that is pure, unfiltered, unapologetic relentless disco-hedonism.”
The track “Don’t Let Go” is this week‘s Free Weekly Download.
