To write the follow-up to their 2022 debut album, Shadowglow, the indie-pop quintet decamped to a cabin in the mountains of North Carolina before heading to El Paso, Texas, to record at the famed Sonic Ranch. The result is Burnout Days, and the title track is this week’s Free Weekly Download at WNRN.org.
While attending University, singer songwriter Uwade recorded a cover of the song “Mykonos”, which eventually made its way to Fleet Foxes singer Robin Pecknold, who then invited her to play shows with the band. Uwade has just released her debut album, Florilegium, and on the next World Cafe, she discusses her journey from choir camp to opening for The Strokes. Plus, she performs live.
