Second Street Gallery is a nonprofit community art space in Charlottesville promoting contemporary artists through the presentation of their work in a professional gallery setting.
Their current exhibitions run through March 21st.
Cassie Guy is a Charlottesville-based, mixed media artist. In her solo exhibition, “Liminal,” she reinterprets traditional subjects using figurative and abstract imagery to dissolve barriers between material and imagined worlds.
Inspired by poetry and humor, Kirsten Hemrich’s painting and drawings in “Signs of Life” depict boats, kites, horses and flowers—objects with a specific kind of momentum and life energy.
Many artists have covered The Beatles, but only one artist, other than the Beatles themselves, has recorded Beatles songs at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. That artist is Lucinda Williams. On the next World Cafe, Lucinda talks about making her new album of Beatles songs in a place where she could feel their presence. Plus, she reveals her favorite Beatle.
