Hear Together: BRIMS Presents Lúnasa in Concert

Blue Ridge Irish Music School (BRIMS) is a nonprofit educational organization based in Charlottesville. This year, BRIMS is celebrating 25 years of offering classes for all ages in Irish music, dance and song; summer camps for kids, study trips to Ireland and hosting concerts with musical artists in the Celtic tradition.

On Friday, February 28th, BRIMS is presenting Irish supergroup Lúnasa in concert at the V. Earl Dickinson Theater at Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville.

Lúnasa’s complex arrangements and sound reshaped the boundaries of traditional music and energizes audiences around the world.

Hear Together: LEAP Food Access Programs

Local Environmental Agriculture Project (LEAP) is a Roanoke-based nonprofit striving to nurture equitable food and farming systems that prioritize health and abundance. Founded in 2009, LEAP programs include two farmers markets, a mobile market, a farm share, a food hub, a retail store, a processing kitchen, three community gardens, and robust food access programs.

All are invited to visit Grandin Village Farmers Market on Saturdays, West End Farmers Market on Tuesdays, the LEAP Mobile Market during its scheduled weekday stops, and the LEAPCommunity Store on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. More information is online at leapforlocalfood.org.

Hear Together: The Front Porch “Boogie on The Bayou”

The Front Porch is a nonprofit dedicated to connecting everyone through music, offering classes and workshops for all ages and skill levels, intimate concerts, and community outreach.

They invite you to “Boogie on The Bayou”, a New Orleans themed fundraiser celebrating 10 years of The Front Porch on Friday, March 7th at Fry’s Spring Beach Club in Charlottesville.

This event will feature live music by Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience, food by local restaurants, a casino room, and silent auction.

Proceeds will support Front Porch community programming.
