Hear Together: Girls on the Run 5k Celebrations

Girls on the Run Central Virginia and Blue Ridge is hosting three upcoming 5k Celebrations representing teams of girls in grades 3rd to 8th to promote healthy, active lifestyles and social development. Our upcoming 5k dates are November 16th in Roanoke, November 17th in Charlottesville, and November 23rd in Lynchburg.

Girls on the Run is a nationwide and international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls to build healthy physical and mental habits that last long beyond the program, and make a positive impact on girls’ lives in our community.

“I never wanted it to take this long. I’m just a real perfectionist,” she explains of the album’s long gestation, which spanned from summer 2020 to the spring of 2023. “I was just trying to get the right feeling, and it takes a long time to do that.”

Colorado: Bohemian Foundation / 2MX2 Mini Concert on World Cafe

Combining musicians from Mexico, Chile, and Colorado, 2MX2 take on issues like immigration, mental health, and politics with a focus on unity. This year they were voted “Band You’d Drive 105.5 miles to See” by listeners from radio station The Colorado Sound – a write-in only award, which shows just how much locals love them. On the next World Cafe, hear a mini concert recorded at Washingtons in Fort Collins as a part of the Sense of Place: Colorado series.
