Hear Together: Bike Walk Williamsburg and the Bicycle Co-Op Tour de Midnight

Bike Walk Williamsburg and the Bicycle Co-Op are a nonprofit located in the James-York Center on Merrimac Trail, serving the Williamsburg region. They encourage residents to enjoy safe riding and walking/running routines, promoting better mental and physical health.

They invite you to join them for the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia’s Tour de Midnight on Saturday, October 19th at Jamestown Settlement starting at 8am. Participants can ride, walk, or run a distance of their choosing.

Hear Together: Oakland School’s Oaktober Fest

Oakland School is located just outside of Charlottesville and 50 minutes from Richmond.  For nearly 75 years, Oakland School and summer camp has helped thousands of children discover new pathways to achieving success.  

On Saturday, October 19th, Oakland School will celebrate Oaktober Fest! They welcome you to join them for their second annual autumnal evening of live music, barbecue, drinks, and activities for the whole family! 100% of proceeds benefit Oakland School and Summer camp.

Hear Together: Blooms That Brighten

Blooms that Brighten is a nonprofit Flower Therapy program based in Williamsburg.

They set up workshops in Senior Care Communities, helping residents make a vase of fresh flowers for their room to brighten their day. 

They arrive with buckets of fresh flowers, donated by local floral vendors, little green vases, and volunteers that assist in making a vase just for them. During this activity, residents often share memories of family, friends, or their own gardening experiences from their past. 

Hear Together: VBCF Power of Pink Luncheon

The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF) aims to empower Virginians impacted by breast cancer through access, education, and advocacy programs. They’re hosting the Power of Pink Luncheon on Thursday, October 10th at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. This event will feature speakers sharing stories of resilience and triumph including multiple cookbook author and breast cancer survivor, Elizabeth Heiskell, and a special lunch menu created based on her recipes and made by The Jefferson’s chefs.

Encore: Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher on World Cafe

To celebrate the return of Oasis, World Cafe is re-airing a full hour with Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds, an 11-piece ensemble that includes a full brass section and even a scissors player. The band performs live, and Noel reflects on the evolution of his sound since his days writing hits and playing guitar in Oasis, plus how he’s making sure his own kids have a different childhood than Noel and his famously feuding brother Liam had.
